The Johnson and Rawson families of the Double Cousins Mysteries certainly include their fair share of "characters" in the humorous sense, but this page is simply a list of the characters in the books and something about them.  The descriptions will be updated as more becomes known.  The Double Cousins' names are underlined.

There are more Johnson names here at the beginning (June 2009) because the first book takes place on the Johnson ranch and concerns their family mystery.  The second book continues that story, so you meet more of that family.  The Rawson family will be featured in the third and later books.

Johnson

Brandon –    The Double Cousins' "ordinary" cousin (Brad and Ginny are his parents; Brad is brother to Jeff and Joanna).  In Book 1 he is showing his calf at the Custer County Fair in Broken Bow.

Carly –    The older Johnson child, she's 10, the same age as Max, when Book 1 opens.

Esther –    Floyd's wife, she's the Double Cousins' great-aunt.

Floyd –    Grandpa Johnson's brother, he's the Double Cousins' great-uncle.  Also known as "Trader Johnson".

Georgia –    Grandma Johnson.

Jeff –    Carly and Molly's Dad.

Milton –    Grandpa Johnson.

Molly –    The younger Johnson child, she's 8, the same age as Chad, when Book 1 opens.

Sheila –    Carly and Molly's Mom.  She was born Sheila Rawson.

Rawson

Chad –    The youngest Rawson child, he's 8, the same age as Molly, when Book 1 opens.

Dorie –    The oldest double cousin, she's already a teenager, 13, when Book 1 opens.

Jack –    Dorie, Max, and Chad's Dad.

Joanna –    Dorie, Max, and Chad's Mom.  She was born Joanna Johnson.

Max –    The middle Rawson child, he's 10, the same age as Carly, when Book 1 opens.

Other Characters

"Slim" –    The mysterious, secretive new hired man who comes to help with the haying on the Johnson ranch.  One of the mysteries the Double Cousins face is who he is and what he is hiding.
